Our CMS is a web-based application that is developed to compliment our school web designs. Updating a school website becomes a non-technical task that can be easily performed by teachers, staff members, and even enables students to contribute. In a traditional secondary school, teachers and staff members provide their content to the webmaster and they post the content on the school website. They would generally update the website using software such as Microsoft FrontPage or Dreamweaver, a task which requires technical skills and is very time consuming. With our CMS the responsibility is shared so the ICT co-ordinator and network staff don't have to update the school website. Instead, they create user accounts for each teacher or staff member and give them access rights to update the website. They don't need any technical skills or experience of building websites; in principle if they can use Microsoft Word then they can update the schools website.
