Primary VLE ( Ropley )
To start with we will log in as an administrator. As you can see we have a link to the administration of the VLE on the left hand side, by clicking this you will see 4 tabs.
the first of these is the Admins area. This is where you set the users that have administrator access to the VLE, these users will be able to edit users classes and pupils. You can either find an existing user on the system or alternatively create a user using the appropriate button.
The next tab is the teacher tab. It is here that you define which users are teachers within the VLE.
To administer the classes within the VLE you will need to click on the classes tab. In here you are able to manage all the classes that are on the system. To create a class it is a simple task of entering the class name and selecting the teacher for that class. Once you have created you class you are ready to add pupils to it. To do this please click on the pupils tab.
Within the pupils tab you have 3 choices, you can either create a new user, search for a particular user, or browse a class to find a user. Once you have found the user you require, to place them within a class click on edit next to that student and simply select the correct class from the dropdown. To view and edit that users page you can do so by clicking on the ‘view page’ link and this will then bring up the students page in a new window.

When you first log in as a teacher you will be taken to your class’s page. From here you have access on the left hand side to see all the pages that are associated with the class including the homework page and the pupils page which shows all the students that are assigned to that class (in the left hand navigation when you are on that page). If you go into a student page you will have the ability to edit that students page to ensure that they are not putting inappropriate content on their page. You also have access to the ‘parental reports’ page.
On this page you have the ability to change what the parent of that student can see. At the bottom of this page you will also have the ability to upload documents for such things as the termly report.
To create a piece of homework for students to complete go into the classes homework page and then at the top of the page in the dark area called the ribbon, make sure that the general tab is selected and then click on create followed by under this item. You will then see a homework link. Click on this and you will be taken to the new homework page. You are then able to edit this is the same way that you would with any other page on the site.

When a student logs into the VLE they are taken to their home page which they are able to edit. The block called my homework will automatically show the homework that is allocated for that student. When a student clicks on one of the links in the homework block they will be taken to the page of that homework and they will be able to upload a file to submit it. When a teacher has given a response to a piece of work they will be able to view a response from this page also by clicking on the view response button.
At the top of the page they will also get quick links to get back to their home page, their class page, which will give them access to all the other pages for their class, and a link to edit their profile.

When a parent logs in they will be taken to their students page. From here they will have a link on the left hand side to be able to view the parental reports.
On this page the parent will be able to see the attendance data for their student and also view any files that have been uploaded and associated with that student.
